when did 5.0 blocks all go roller, even if they didn't have a roller cam? I have an '87 5.0 out of a Mercury Grand Marque. Can I stick the factory roller set-up in it? Does it already have the roller lifters?
I believe late 88 the H.O. motors went roller. Other regular 5.O didn't have roller lifters. It definatly won't have roller lifters. But it could already have the provisions for the setup eaither drilled and tapped holes or just the blank bosses in the lifter valley.
The Mustang 5.0 went roller in 85. The Vic, Marquis and Lincolns went roller in 86 (so yes, yours is roller) The pickups and vans went roller in 92, but before that were roller block with flat tappet cams. The T-Bird/Cougar went roller in 86 also but had a cam upgrade in 93, using the Cobra cam. Pickup's and vans were upgraded in 94 to the F4TE cam which was later used in the Explorer/Mountaineer 5.0.
