Say it ain't so, Mike! You missed something that only happens once every 7 years, and seldom as well as it did last night!
What AJs photos can not show is the time the moon was in total eclipse - it was a deep cherry colored disk with a touch of yellow. I just wish my camera was as good as his!
Many years ago, back when I had good cameras and everyone used film, I took a series of photos like his - but that event was not as clear as this one, and we did not get the dark disk showing a total eclipse.
My question is........How did you get to post nine pictures on one post?
Every time I post any pics, I'm only allowed 3.
.
If you attach the photos, you are limited to 3, located at the end of your post.
If you insert the images (button that looks like a picture of some mountains) you can have as many as you want, located wherever you insert them.
Reason is that an attached image is stored on the FTE server, while a inserted image is stored somewhere else on the Internet. Notice the address of his photos - http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...7/DSC00816.jpg
CRAP!!!
I would have checked in with you guys last night, as I do that. But I we had dry lightning in the area, and a few fires. I was out a little past my bed time, and still needed to get some grub on before bed. Feeling a bit fatigued, I elected to bed down at the fire station last night with a full belly, rather than check in on FTE...
See what ya get when you miss just one days check in?
Arrrrg, I would have had a great view from work. Perfect viewing from the High Sierras.
On edit: Thanks for the pics AJ. They were awesome! It takes a while to load stuff on dial up, so I didn't see them until I was done with the first part of this post. Great shots!

It hit us here in NC at between 0515 and 0600.......I got to see it because I drive to work 0520 to 0545.......It was totally eclipsed by just before 0600.......Kind of cool watching it slowly disappear, then go to a sliver......then just a real faint globular mass barely visible (about 30-degrees over the horizon).........
Yeah - It looked so unreal in total eclipse. I had to change my setting to allow more light in and this is what I got. It looks like a full moon .... so that SONY camera is really sensitive. However, the color isn't perfect the way my eye saw it.
I took about 3 hours of video as well. That was pimp. I had to track the Moon manually without a tripod, DOH!!! The tripod was in the Motorhome and I forget to take it out before I put it into storage the other day. It worked out OK. I had to move the camera every 5 minutes or so to keep it in frame. I was neat to see the Moon track across the screen as the eclipse happened. However, it will take me a while to review it and make a time elapse DVD for viewing.
Just unbelievable - Once in a lifetime thing I think for me. ;-)
