Cam? J/P

Bad gas? How many miles? Check your air filter and vacuum lines?

I have an 04 STX 4X4 w/4.6l and it doesn't like it when i just pull it out of the garage 30 feet, than shut it off. If I start it, than shut it off right away, I have problems starting it the next day. If I drive around the block, there is no issue. It's been like that since I got it.

I had the same problem about a week ago. Rough and low idle, no codes. It is a real simple fix. All I had to do was take off my air intake to get to my throttle body and then take it completely off and clean it really good with some carburetor cleaner. Then clean the hole into your intake manifold and that is all you have to do. But the big thing while you are doing this is to disconect your battery so that your computer will reset itself and recognize that you have cleaned the throttle body. But that should fix the problem for you.

I've had my dealer check mine a couple of times for what I feel is a rough idle and both times it's been, "It's running fine. Everything tests perfectly. The 4.6's have an inherent rough idle. No codes....blah blah blah."

Mine seems to idle roughest, in gear, coming to a stop from a lengthy run on a freeway and directly after initial daily start up.

I feel like they are telling me -Its normal for your POS to run rough...

Mine runs rough and stalls sometimes. When in cruise it seems to surge.

Then the F'ing thing wouldn't start today $45K and only 10Kmiles and the thing won't start? P-O-S

First and LAST Ford. Next I think I'll get a toyota

I already have a law suit against the dealer for boning me on the dealer installed options... rant over

seems odd that all these new trucks won't work with new members and no dealers will fix them.....also seems odd you'd go right to a toyota....hum...

Check your throttle position sensors...

Be sure to get on the Toyota forums before you buy one. I am sure there are plenty of people that only post about problems they have with those too..

the 4.6 does run rough. and it is normal. My Mustang hates to idle

I also think it's strange that someone makes 5 posts and then says it's time for a Toyota.

Is it possible that the 4.6L's are having the same issue that the 5.4L's do?? When I first bought my 04 Screw 5.4L, it would "stumble" coming to a stop, idle rough, and once in awhile even stall. The problem is the IAC valve and/or the throttle body itself. Working at a Ford dealer, I see this every now and then, so they replaced my entire throttle body, and I have had no issues since.
Just an idea....*shrug*

Well, you can't blame me -I tried to go the Ford route and I'm still trying. I really love my truck -even got a page on my site about it http://www.chucksirois.com/truckstop/index.htm

I have the 5.4 and yes I am going to set my own TPS. I can't fricken believe I am saying that! I am going to set my own TPS??? 10K miles??? The dealer is an ******???

I said Toyota -actually I meant Lexus. I don't want to work on cars ANYMORE!!!! I bring my truck in and they give me a shtbox rental that smells of smoke (I'm a non smoker) for weeks on end...

I have done me fair share of wrenching and I have had ENOUGH!!

Why all these new mebers? We are looking for answers and the dealer won't help.

Toyota, Lexus same difference...but dont worry... A family member has a $60k Lexus SUV and they took it in for grinding brakes and they say everything is fine when it obviously still isn't and didnt fix anything...so it is with every manufacturer and until people realize that each dealer is different and each manufacturer has the same problems there will always be people saying they have the worst vehicle ever. It is just getting old that people come on here and dont have anything to contribute but will shoot down the truck until the end. These are great trucks and like every vehicle, they are mass produced and will have issues. I personally had issues with 2 dealers before I found the 3rd who was able to fully help me and was very knowledgable. So why not find another dealer and go from there.

I went spying after seeing your comment. They seem to have the same complaints we do about our trucks.

Slip yokes, Deisel engine noise from a gasser, Interior stuff breaking, warped rotors. etc....

They did have two that i had not seen here. Soft paint. many were complaining that thier new trucks scratched real easily. And many had problems with the tailgate binding, loose, bouncing, handle linkage came apart. etc..
