I have a 1977 F-150 4x4 W/9" rear and what i believe to be a Dana 44 Front.
Now the problem is that the front drivers side axle shaft has a lot of play ( I can wiggle it back and forth about 3/4 of an inch) the U-joint is fine so something else is at fault but I have no clue what the culprit is hopefully one of you do.
There is a small bearing in there called a spindle bearing. If you have that much slop, the spindle probably is damaged along with the outer axle shaft.
