We are looking at getting my wife an 07 F150 XL 2wd short box with standad trans. We are wondering what kind of fuel millage you guys are getting with similar truck. The truck is going to be mostly driven on the interstate.
Just a guess, but a V6 in these trucks can't be too good on fuel, since these trucks weigh a lot, and the small V8 is just about adequate. I know they state 15 and 21mpg, but I would be real leary of that statement.
I'm getting almost 21mpg in mixed driving. See my sig. I'm aiming for 25 mpg once I can work a couple mods in.
My high speed interstate trips (phoenix and back, etc.) net me 19 and a half... but it's not broke in yet, I expect the numbers to go up. It's a damn sight better than what guys have been getting with any of the v8's, that's for sure. (I've been seeing people say how they average 13 mpg with the 5.4, I had a 79 4x4 with a 400 that would do that.)

Reason: typo
My 5.4 SCREW Lariat with 3:73 LS axles get 18.8mpg at 76mph and 15.5 combined. It used to get 19.8 @ 76mph, but the tire change knocked off the mpg a bit.

I'm getting almost 21 highway and 17 city. Why are you leary of that mpg? I don't see you sitting in my truck checking my mileage!
Reason I siad to be leary is because the auto manufacturers just had a major change in their EPA mileage reporting due to inaccuracies. So yes I would be leary, Even if correct tht V6 is not much of an improvement over the 5.4!
