A few weeks ago, I asked about buying and F150 and got some great advice - thanks.
I've found an '05 Lariat 4wd with 20k miles. It is in great shape The price is $26k which seems fair - any opinions? The warranty runs out in March of '08. I've heard concerns about spark plugs breaking off. Anything I can do about that? Also, anything else I should think about? Should I purchase an extended warranty?

Just today I was at a local dealership getting my oil changed and they had 07 4X4 Supercab Lariat after all rebates and no haggle price at a little over 29,000. Just FYI for you.
I think that's way too high for a 2yr old truck w/ 20K on it, but that's just me since I bought my '07 Lariat SCab for around $29K too.
Just for reference, go to kbb.com and see what they say the trade-in value is for the truck you're looking at and figure the dealer probably got it below that.
I've got an '04 Lariat supercrew with 23K on it and nothing I've seen would support that price for my truck. If I were to sell the truck I think I might be able to squeeze about $20K out of it. Most of these trucks lost a lot of value when Ford started discounting thier inventories making the new trucks almost as cheap as the used ones. Fact is you could buy a brand new one for $30K and it wouldn't have the problems of the early editions and a longer warranty. But hey mine has an extended warranty on it to 60K miles so if you're willing to pay $26K its yours....
That does seem a little high. If you are planning on financing, you might figure up what the payment would be and then compare it to a new one with $2007 cash back and 0% financing. You may be paying more for the used one, unless you can get a REALLY GOOD deal.
This is all great feedback, thanks. I've thought about a new one but have not visited a dealer for some time. Maybe the deals are a little better now that they are closing out the '07's.
Yeah maybe consider a new one they got ford family pricing on right now which is rebates i believe or keep lookin im sure you could find a steal of a deal on a used one
1. Hey, I think I got just about the same truck that you are looking at. 05 SCREW with 26k miles on it when I got it. Real nice Lariat with black leather interior. Anyway, it was posted on ebay for 26k but didn't sell so I asked the seller if he would take 24,500 for it and he said yeah! This was last September and it also had the extended warranty on it which I will tell you about later. So yes, I think you can get a better deal for this truck as the only thing good about it is the low miles.
2. Extended Warranty. Just had the truck in for some warranty work. The factory 36 covered me for the work being done but I needed a rental car and the dealer wouldn't go for it as I didn't purchase the vehicle from them. So, I go to another dealer and they told me that since I had the extended warranty that a rental car would be available at no charge! But wait, they say that the extended warranty was in the other fellers name and said that I don't have it because its not transfereable. So, long story short, I don't have the extended warranty that I thought I had!
If you google "Ford extended warranty transferable" it pulls a bunch of hits proclaiming the transferability of Ford's ESPs. What the details are of actually making the transfer, I dunno, but I would dig a little deeper on that one rather than take some counter jockey's word.

Yup, exactly! Ima dig into that today as it just happened yesterday. Thanks for the advice
Well, after your comments and also considering what a new one would cost (with all the current incentives), I offered him $24k. He said that was too low but he'd think about it if he got no other offers.
Thanks again for all of your replies. I'll keep looking.
