96 vs 97
Why does my 96 idle louder than 97(just got yesterday)? Side by side running 96 is far louder with hood open. 96 has 330000miles and AA inj. 97 has 205000w/AB inj. Do the inj. make the difference and why? Although we just got 97 we beleive it has some kind of programming runs strong..

i have been away from this for a long time but if i remember right you may have a california truck with the split shots. if so then there is your answer. is the sticker on the valve cover teal unlike your 96's? do you have a cali emissions sticker up by the hood latch on the hood. does it have a fuel dampner(black disk looking thing right under the turbo) if so then its a cali. and the injectors are 30cc bigger than a 49 state stroke.
me and my dads trucks are the exactly like this his is a ton quiter than mine. you will be suprised if you throw a chip on it at how much it will wake up.

yes Ryan is right your 97 is a california emmision truck with AB split shot injectors and 10 more HP than your 96. the injectors make the noise difference and are bigger.which mean more potential for power with a chip!!
