Fuel mod help!!

OK.... trying to figure out best bang for my $$$$

My next mods are going to be:

Fuel tank/pre pump mod
check fuel pressure and shim as required

then I either want to do the CCK or regulated return system...

For $$$ reason the CCK is very temping, but am I way better off going with the regulated return system???

Future mods will include dual HPOPs and injector upgrades....

So do I go cackle cure kit or regulated return?

Thanks!!!
Bob

Mr bob, since you are going all out(injectors) DONT skimp on the fuel system, you want to be able to feed those injectors..

I run the regulated return, or you can build a fuel system your self. Some people go all the way from the tank pickup to the heads, larger lines.

I'd go regulated return instead of the CCK.

Go from the tank the entire way with larger fuel lines, big fuel pump, RR. Dont skimp here, or later you will be going back and changing it.

Hmmm...

One more quick question...

I should have mentioned that I am only planning for like stage I injectors... nothing fancy, for hauling a camper/trailer NOT sled pulling or racing....

I have looked at the DI and ITP kits, and they both look like good kits...

What exactly is the difference between shimming the stock regulator and the CCK, compared to the regulated return kit??? other than $400???

Thanks again guys!

As I understand it, if you shim the stock regulator, you increase the pressure. It doesn't change the fact that #8 doesn't get as much fuel as the rest. AFAIK, the CCK is the same thing as the regulated return kit EXCEPT for the fact that your pressure is now not adjustable.

So If I spend the time to shim my pressure regulator to the pressure I want, and do the CCK, I am going to be fairly close to a regulated return setup?

I guess I am trying to see what you are trying to achieve, Yes, you can increase the pressure but you cannot control it as precisely as with a regulator. Why are you trying to increase the pressure? You can get a DI kit for $450 with a regulator and it is all cut so you can drop it in or get a kit from ITP that is going to look like it was designed from the factory.

So yes, you can get fairly close but I guess it depens on what you are trying to achieve.

There's a good fuel reg/system parts list on the DI Performance web site if you've opted to build your own from scratch. It's basically a parts list you can take to a Hydraulic shop that they can follow to build your kit. Buy your regulator, make your Reg bracket and your set for the install. I don't know if it's a cheaper route than buying one already built, but it does give you the option of different materials to fit a custom look you might want. Just make sure that you double check with the builder that the material you choose is Diesel Fuel capable hose. I personaly like, and will go with the SS hose. I like the look of the SS hose under the hood. Country

If it is set up for you already, what is the point of making up your own kit other than asthetics? If you want to use SS hose, get the ITP kit, It has SS hose.

Personal preference is one piont. Cost is another point. And possibly some changes to the system that I might want. Unless you have the tools to actually build it from scratch, which would be nice. But who has the eqiupment much less afford it. Is it cheaper to build or buy? I haven't built mine yet, but everyone here that has put one together has followed some sort of guide line to build and assemble it. Unless you are Pop, Gene, or Kwikk. I could of dropped my truck off at a Diesel Tech shop, give'm $25,000 and said build it. And drive it home done. But whats the Point. I enjoy working on my Truck like most of us here do. I Also enjoy seeing all the customizing, changes & upgrades to old and new ideas. This is what has helped our riggs evolve into what they are today..JMHO.. Take Care Country
