Like WildWildWest said, you may want to look at the Cooper Discoverer ATR. It is a 50K rated A/T, but it is not very agressive, just enough to perform well in adverse weather/road conditions. I know a few people who have run this tire well past 50K on thier SD's while towing heavy.
You may also want to check out the Cooper Discoverer H/T. It is a 60K rated A/S tire that comes in 17" load range E sizes.
I have slightly oversized tires on my dually. 285/70/17. Seems as if most or all tires that size are "D" load range. The 265/70/17's are "E" load range. So, what exactly does this rating mean when both tires have the EXACT same max load rating which for the Cooper tires which is 3,195 lbs. Thanks ~Brad
After researching, talking to people with them on their truck, and people that work at GoodYear I'm going with the GoodYear Wrangler with Silent Armour ProGrades. Get them mounted thursday morning. So we'll see if they are as good as people say.
I've researched the heck out of this one, and one thing sticks out to me. The Nitto Terra Grappler is available in LT285/75R17 in load range E, rated at 3750# at 80 psi. That's 500# + more than any other 265 or 285 17 that I've found. I had a set of Terra Grapplers on my last Super Duty (4x2 V10) and was pleased with them - they only had about 20K on them when I traded, so I can't speak for mileage except that they showed little wear (I'd estimate 60% + of the tread remained). I know what'll be replacing the Conti's on my '05 with this fall.

I have an 06' F-350, with the 18" polished wheels w/contis,,,been looking for tires,,here's what I came up with,,Bought a new set (200 miles on them )of 17" wheels, 5 spoke Alloys, takeoffs from an 07' SuperDuty off ebay,,been searching for tires, here's what I am going to try, 285/70R/17 Hankook MT RT03,,there 33" tall, they are load range D, 3195 lbs at 65 psi,,a buddy of mine has a 3500 Do&@# with this size Cooper ATR Load range D, he push's a 9' plow and has a big fuel tank in the bed and has not had any trouble with them !
The Hankooks are studable which I will have done,,(steep driveway), and now I will have 2 set of wheels and tires, a summer set,,and a winter set.
The 285/70R/17 are heavy ,, I was surprised when they showed up,,and look like a great tire,,$659.00 to my door for 4-tires,,they also make 265/70/17 size which are 10 ply, and a 35" tall tire that are 10 ply,,but trying to stay around stock size so no rubbing here. Later,,,,,Mark
