I am looking to add a sliding bed system to my 2008 F350 truck. I need it to hold up to 4K lbs at times and 2-3K continually. Does anybody have suggestions on brands, pricing, and reliability of these.
As a contractor I use my 04 F350 to haul about 2,500 pounds of tools around in the bed and then pile miscellaneous materials on top if they fit.
I did not find this powered bed that you provided the link to which has a 5,000 pound weight limit. I went with the heavy duty version of the Cargo Bed (www.cargobed.com) unit which has a capacity of 4,000 pounds.
I have been using it for about 6 months now and have no complaints. Installation was a half day affair for a couple of guys. You do want to park on as level a surface as possible to make it easy to pull out and push in.
You have to supply your own bed for the cargo bed unit - it just comes with the sliding rails. I had a 60" wide piece of 3/16" aluminum checker plate bent to form a 93" x 49" tray with 5.5" sides and bolted it to the top. This fits fine between the fender wells and allows me to load the proverbial 4'x8' sheets in the bed without any problem. I'm planning to add a second level to mine to spread out the tool storage and materials.
I need the bedslide to hold up to 4,000lbs and I need at least 86 inches of space for my dry ice coolers to fit in the bed with the tailgate closed. This system looks great but would not work for my situation.
Anybody else seen one of the power bedslide units in action. It seems like a great product but I wish that I could see it in person before throwing down $2K.
