uplifter switch wiring diagram

Been awhile since I last posted, I just picked up my 2007 F350 as a replacement for my 2003 F350(still have the 2003). I really like the uplifter switch option on the truck, I can normally figure things out but I am one of those people who is electrically challenged (home and auto)and also am one who does not wish to butcher the new ride (same for the home)to gain an education in the art of wiring. I would like to reinstall my headache rack lights on this truck as they are needed for winter work. I was in my truck manual and the info for wiring is weak and the website did not help nor did my email to ford. I have found the wire harness but it is not tagged as a pair/color to switch. I have the lights already grounded to the rack,so I am thinking I just need the hot wire from the switch. If some one could supply me with the color code for positive and ground for the switches I would greatly appreciate it. Long day in the salt mine gonna crash and I will check back tomorrow night. Once again any info greatly appreciated thanks guys,Jeff

Switch #1 - Orange / Lt. Green Stripe - 30 amp

Switch #2 - Orange - 30 amp

Switch #3 - Orange / Yellow Stripe - 10 amp

Switch #4 - Orange / Lt. Blue Stripe - 10 amp

You can use the customer pass thru wires to get the power from the upfitter switch leads to the other side of the firewall without drilling holes.

Rocky Mountain Jeff, make sure you have the right wires. They are 4 wires all by themselves up behind the fuse panel, not the wires down closer to the brake pedal that are in a bundle with a bunch of other blunt cut wires. Many people (myself included) have tried to use the wrong wires because they are much easier to find.

Remember, even though the wires are there available for the upfitters, switch #1.#2 are rated for 30 amps and should not be hooked to the blunt cut wires that passthru the firewall if you plan on utilizing the full current of these switches.

Capt813,
The answer is right in front of you. Back-up to thread 2 and 3 of this post.

Whilte the upfitter switches are awesome and the feature of them tied in to the ignition is great, the little blunt cut wires are tough to locate without removing pieces of your dash/under dash. I finally broke down and paid someone to do it so that I could yell at someone other than myself if everything didn't look perfect around the dash after the wiring was done!

Thanks for the replies.
My plan is to run work lights on each side of the engine and one over the pump and control panel at the rear and a pair of flashing amber lights.

uplifter switches

when you have the offroad lights on the bull bar, one wire being ground can be grounded to the frame right?
does the hot wire then tie into the blunt wires by the master cylinder?
Then inside the cab do you have to hook up the blunt wires by the parking brake or do you have to take your hot wires right to the switch?
this is on a 2008 f350 diesel. I read alot about the location of the wires but not how to make the connections??

Well everyone I figure I would go ahead and get my hands dirty with a few questions about the 2009 f-250 (posted an intro about myself so if you need formal details about me check it out).

First off the reason I have this question is did they relocate the wires for the 09's for the uplifter switches? I downloaded the bull. for the 08's and well after removing the trim cover below the steering column I do not have the wires, I have the switches on my dash (factory installed) which light up but Ill be damned if i can find where the ends are located.

I do have a bunch of wires (not the same color as the ones listed in the bulletin (the yellow one has a stripe on it and does not get its power from any of the switches) located out of a main harness just next too the comp port. There are approximately 12 wires here. I have used a test light to make sure these were the correct ones but they have power all the damn time (key on or off).

Can anyone help me out here??

Next thing I have is I put a cold air intake on (airad) and it keeps turning my check engine light on (code is particulate filter is below threshold) I have the bully dog triple dog gt tuner on there and just keep clearing it, Ford told me that the only way to fix it was to put the stock airfilter back on??? Anyone else had this problem? If so how did you fix it? Hate having the check engine light on a truck that is less than a month old.

Thanks for all your help, hope I have all this posted in the right spot, if not be gentle as it is only my 2nd post.

Clarification

Ok so I have done my homework about the uplifter switches. I know where the blunt orange ends are behind the CJB on the drivers side. My question is how to get from there to the engine compartment cleanly. I have read that the 2008's and up have unwired wires that serve to pass through the firewall. In my 2006 model I cannot find anything about these wires and I think they may not have done this in the 2006 models. Any clarification?

I did some looking around the engine compartment and found 4 blunt end wires coming out of a bundle above the JB in the engine compartment. The wires are Blue, Red, Black, and I think White. I have a suspicion that those may be the wires but I cant find the other end of them inside the cab. Also it doesn't make sense to me why they would be different colors than the orange uplifter wires in the cab.

I am trying to wire 4 50w lights up. Both are relayed. Can I run all four lights off one AUX switch since the main power is not running through the switch? The switch only serves to trip the relay?

Those ARE the wires, and you should find them behind the CJB. They will be bundled with a slew of blunt cut wires for upfitting applications. Here is a pic of them on my '06.

That photo comes from this page below, which might help orient you:
Installing Upfitter Switches - Ford 2005-2007 Superduty

The colors are not the same as the upfitters, because they are not necessarily intended for use with upfitters. And if fact, the pass-through wires are not large enough for upfitter #1 or #2. So be careful and don't overload them. Use relays for your lights, or else don't use the pass-through wires. You could run 4 x 50W (17 amps total) lights directly off of a 30A upfitter, but NOT if you use the pass-through wires.
