stupid question 1000 is what is the difference between the spindles the spindles on a 57- whenever they quit using them and the ones on the earlier trucks such as my 53 ? i was on another site and an ol' timer told me that granada discs will work on my spindles and that 79 - 83 truck discs will fit the 57- ? spindles . i wanna keep my 5 on 5 pattern so iwas just curios . if they are the same im gonna start huntin ' down one of them thar later f 150's . the real kicker is i just parted out two of them , both 83's .
the Granada spindle swap is common on the 62-64 Fairlanes/Meteors....which have a smaller bolt pattern. The newer truck discs may or may not work, but the adapter bracket to hold the caliper is typically what's bought through the aftermarket. Check out Midfifty's catalog, and you'll see pics.
darn that means i gotta go find mine out in my black hole ! thanx for the reply havi . im such a chince tryin to get by cheap . i hope i can make this work as i know where there is an 81-83 f 150 i can get really cheap { tow it off it's yours from an aunt } i am going to assume then the spindles are the same for the 53-56's and the later ones { 57- ? }.
not sure about that. spindles may be different, I don't know, but it's possible the bearings/races are different too. In looking at my '48, the spindle diameter seems smaller than my '74 was, IIRC.
ok havi he's saying the spindles from 53- 56 will accept the granada brakes , which i have been told that 'round here before and as you said and i know small car bolt pattern. then 57-64 he says that the 79-83 f150 discs will fit those spindles . so obviously my dream of being super cheap is dashed again . hell i got an 8 inch ford layin' round here from a maverick thats all set up to go in , so igeuss i could do the g-brakes and switch over . thanx any way . granadas around here are like dinosaurs mother nature has reclaimed them !!!!!
yep but i'll wager that your state uses anywhere near the road salt mine or havi's does . most cars are crap within 10 - 15 years and crushed soon after if ya dont take care of them here .
Nope...no road salt. Not supposed to be anyway. Not a lot of rust to deal with down here.
A year or more ago I posted a picture of my rusty spring packs. To me they were horribly rusty. The guys up north (where they use salt) told me that was not rust!
uh huh i figures as much . when iwas drivin ' over the road i was always droolin' and envious of all of you from the southern regions for the freakin' nice cars sittin' around . my 53 to some would be parts to those of us here its akin to winning the lottery . you guys are indeed fortunate !

Am I reading that corrently? You are saying granada disks will fit our spindles (56)?
I never heard that before.
I know that is small bolt pattern, but if they will fit....
