Parking Brake Light
I have a 96 explorer with 4 wheel disc brakes. When the parking brake is applied, the warning light on the dash does not light. The light comes on momentarily when you start the engine, so i know the bulb is OK. I assume ther is a switch for this light on or near the pedal to set the parking brake. Does anyone know where this witch is?

I know on earlier models they put the switch right on the parking brake foot lever and ratchet assembly. Try checking there. You may need to take the kick panel off to see it better. There should be a wire attached to a plastic mount and a bent metal lever on the other side of it that makes contact with another metal part when the brake is set to turn on the light.
