2003 6.0?

Is there any such animal? I just met a man in an Auto-Zone parking lot with what he claimed to have being the above mentioned. Not being the confrontational sort, I did not argue. But I am curious enough to ask the question here. He was really adament about it and saying his 2001 7.3 was a far more reliable truck. I smiled and walked away.

Approximately a quarter of the 2003's are 7.3's, and in mid-year they made the change to 6.0's.

So, 2003's can come both ways.

A 7.3 2003 would be a nice truck to have, despite the powdered metal rods (PMR's).

On the other hand, a 2003 with a 6.0 was a very failure-prone truck, as are a lot of vehicles with "first-year" engines.

See, good thing I held my tongue. Other than making him jealous by telling him that I have total strangers approaching me all the time wanting to buy mine. When I told him it was a '99 with 200,000 plus on it he was amazed. I take care of my "stuff".

Markadeck, that's because you have something that can be taken care of and will last. The early 6.0's seemed to be unable to be improved. When I worked at a dealership, I saw the same trucks in the shop repeatedly. Also, a neighbor had an early 6.0 and finally got rid of it because he said he couldn't rely on it. It was in the shop almost more than he had it. I would like to say that the 7.3 is an Eveready but that would be "underkill".

in fact the early 04's still had 03 motors in them, any mill without the icp in the valve cover is an 03 model
