driveshaft removal

I have to take out the driveshaft in my 92 f350 4x4.
I tried to slide the yoke out of the transfer case but it started to leak oil. how much oil will come out? What should i do? Thanks RT

If the truck is level, nothing should leak out.
Look at the transfer case fill plug. That's how high the fluid should be.

Thats not nessarly true F150xlt.

They make plugs to plug the output shaft. I have a custom made one out of some exhaust stuff, for when my drive shaft broke.

Just throw a bucket under there, and catch what comes out. It sounds like its full if you have a little bit of ATF comming out.
The fill line is just above where the output shaft comes out to lubricate the seal and the yoke. I doubt you would get more then a cup or 2 of atf out of there.
If it looks nasty, Change it out. =)
T-cases need love too.

Are you removing the driveshaft OR the yoke?
Pulling the driveshaft out of the yoke shouldn't cause any leakage.

He said only 1 teaspoon came out. I guess his transfer case was low on fluid?

As long as fluid is touching the flange, it is correct. The transfercase will cause the fluid to expand further to coat completely during use.

I made a guess on how much should come out. However I know that the fluid should come out when you remove the yoke.
