To make a long story short---- I have an `05 6.0 with under 35000miles that over the last several months has given me nothing but problems and has been in shop more than its been out. After several attempts by Ford to fix my stalling while in motion issues, and a couple of near collisions from those issues, I finally said enough. Got a hold of Ford- another long story made short- and they have agreed to repurchase the vehicle from me - mileage I`ve had Ex for 2 years now, and when not having problems was by far the best vehicle I`ve ever owned! I have a 2005 Duramax work truck with 55000miles on it and has only been in shop twice. My 6.0 has not been so lucky, but when running I prefered hands down over chevy. My wife is due any day now with #5 child!! So we need something big. Used to have an older suburban, and looked at new ones the other day. I really dont think we`ll be happy in anything but an Excursion. My buddy had Ex with V-10, and he always complained about horrible gas mileage and lacking power. Do you guys think I`ll be ok by finding used 6.0 Ex and doing oasis report to make sure there`s no or not many problems? I don`t want to get another bad one and would love to be one of the many good 6.0 owners out there.

definately search for a good one, or if need be try and find a low mileage 7.3 ex, if they came with the 7.3's i can't remember if they were around then

 

The first Excursions did come with the 7.3`s. But so far in Az., the only ones I have seen have very high mileage.

 

that sucks, what sucks even more is the bad experience with the 6.0, but its good to see you wanting to give it another shot

 

Id keep it and make ford put in a new motor. Ive had problems with mine but I couldnt ditch it for nothing.... love it to pieces!

 

That was my first offer to Ford was to have motor replaced. But Ford told me that they could almost guarantee that I would still have problems. I love mine to-my wife says I love it more and spend more time with it than with her But after being in a lifted 6.0 Excursion; and then having to go to a rental mini van for 80 days off and on and still pimpin mini van. And man do I miss my Ex!!

 

Try going to autotrader.com and enter the search items your interested in. I did a search for a few hundred miles around my area and I found over 50 Excursions. You might have to drive a ways to find what you want but you should be able to get close to what you want. Good Luck

 

I agree with the boys. My '04 has 80,000 carefree miles and I will load it up in October for a trip to Oklahoma. Several thousands of miles of driving and I wouldn't make the trip in anything else. Just do your research before you buy.
