victim of burglary in need of an alarm

Well I didn't know how easy it was to break in my 00 250 until the other morning when I went out to see someone broke into my truck. They evidently wedged a screwdriver or something under the door handle to unlock it. Anyway they got about $800 bucks worth of stuff. Long story short Im looking for a good alarm system with possibly a remote start. Din't know If yall had any reccomendations. Thanks

Crimestopper is a good one that has come up quite often. Check ebay, the prices are not bad.

I'm running a Python alarm on mine and I'm currently on the 4th vehicle with the same alarm. Python is made by DEI which makes Viper and several other brands.

I'd second this recommendation. I've been using DEI products since about 1992 and they've been very reliable, easy to use, and (like most) have plenty of options & upgrades. I think the biggest things you can do are:

1. Don't leave your goodies in plain site
2. Park in the securest location available (garage, locked inside a fenced yard, etc.)
3. If you have a loud stereo, turn it down when you get near an area where you'll be parking the vehicle. You're just advertising.

I have a viper with an EXTRA bright flashing LED. It lights up the entire cab at night. I know it has kept my truck safe. I bought it as soon as I got the truck and I paid the NOW money for it. $200 installed.

Was it at home when it got broken into? I guess my favorite security system is 12ga. with 00 buck. I definately wouldn't shoot a guy breaking into my truck, but I would hold him till the cops arrived. The best thing I can say is Pythons are good alarms. Also make sure you park you vehicle in a well lit area and as highly trafficed as possible, most criminals don't like well light areas with lots of traffic.

It was in my driveway at night about 250 feet off of the road and right beside my house. The garage has a motion light on it. Im pretty sure that it was someone who knows me and knew exactly what they were breaking into the truck for. I just hope that they are stupid enough to get caught with my stolen pistol so I can get it back. Either way there is a special place in hell for whoever did it.

I tend to disagree with the Extra Bright LED. I think that it may attract attention to your truck by the criminals. Car alarms are easily defeated by someone who knows what they are doing. If the LED lights up the truck at night, it may stand out in a parking lot and bring the burglar to your truck and make him look to see what he can find.

I've just got the standard red LED and have it mounted so it can only be seen by someone who is actually looking into the cab of the truck, versus just walking by.

I took my truck to a shop to have the Viper 791XV installed. They apparently installed everything except they were waiting for the glow plug delay module, they'd call me when it came in. That was in december 06 and they never called me back so i guess i have half of an alarm installed on mine, however i've searched for wires and can't find a thing. I guess im back to shopping.

After having someone break into my truck the same way a little over a year ago (still ticked off about it) I had the CompuStar Pro P2W9000FMR system installed. It has just about every option you can think of and so far has prevented 2 additional break-ins. (that I know of).
