Depends on the shop usually........I had one quote me 325 bucks just to go true dual with an x-pipe glasspacks and chrome tips then pop out where they do now...in front of the passenger back tire.....He's very reputable though.....Never EVER seen his stuff or welds break.
If I bought some long tubes, high flow cat, and muffler, how much would an exhaust shop charge to fab up the rest of the exhaust ending out the side in front of the passenger rear tire?
Cost me $140 with it mandrel bent and welded up. Come in prepared and tell them what you want where you want it. I printed out pictures that Paul (Conanski) had of his system downstream with the same headers and said.." How much for this?" If you are asking them to set up your headers from the block back... be prepared to take it in the pooper!
Damn near every shop here in michigan has a mandrel bender....
Really? Most shops I have seen have a hydraulic bender that does smooth bends, but these are compression bends that reduce the tubing diameter in the radius. Mandrel benders use a device that goes inside the tubing(the mandrel) to prevent compression during the bend. http://www.vansantent.com/definitions.htm
alright it has to be the length differance cause with me in it my 83 LWB F-150 is 3760 and I weigh 265
I bet the problem is front to rear weight balance. A mustang can be near 50/50 front to rear, but a pickup is going to be 75/25 or worse unless you put the motor in the bed.
yes I am sure that is the differance though it looks sweeeeeeet I would rather keep my wheels on the ground (well at least 3 of them) have better control and faster time with less chance of slamming my oilpan through my heads!
Holy ****...flame city. I took the first reply and ran with it. I'm getting a lot of grief here in MA because everyone keeps tellin' me that the inspectors will jump all over trucks with headers. I can't see why if you do all the smog stuff. Anyway thanks for all the help.

We have this chain called muffler man, there are quite a few of them, they have at least 2 in every shop.
What shop would want to bend everything by hand?
I am currently in Portland, OR. Lots of commerce, a fairly big town, but not the biggest needless to say. Mandrel benders cost somewhere around $100,000 (depending on which one you get) and to set one up for to bend takes about an hour. Not a SINGLE exhaust shop in Portland or ANY of it's suburbs have a mandrel bender. Instead they use a hydraulic crush style bender. These benders reduce the diameter of the pipe in the bend AND it can't be used for bending stainless becuase stainless is too hard and will crack. Hardly an ideal set up, but the mandrel bender just isn't practical for them. The ONLY exhaust shop in Oregon that has a mandrel bender (or so I am told by all the mufler shops around) is in Bend, OR which is a few hours from Portland. This guy gets a small foutune for every job he does and he is backed up for weeks at all times.
