ccv smoke

i have a little bit of smoke comming from my ccv (the dog house). do yall think its just stopped up or could there be more? i plan on doing the ccv mod when i put my 6637 setup on (soon i hope). im trying to avoid cutting those crimped on clamps till then, i wanna just do it all at one time and be done. my turbo boot is also torn, but ive got it on securly for now so im trying to avoid moving it if possible.

it's supposed to smoke... actually its a light oil mist. the point in doing th CCV is to keep oil from accumulating in the intercooler

its fine, no worries.

?how do you know its smoking if you didnt do the mod? are you running it with no air cleaner and looking into it? if so some smoke is normal as it is a vent, no worries

make sure "securly" is VERY "secure" as you will be installing a new engine if its not

the metal clamps on the elbow of the ccv do not have to be cut, they come off real easy if you just grab the crimped part with a pair of slip joint pliers and twist, it spreads and comes right off and if you really wanted to you could recrimp them

by doghouse do you mean the ccv bolted to the valve cover? or is it coming out of your torn intake duct?

if you can see smoke coming out of from under the dog house then you need new o-rings there. The Ford o-rings are junk and don't hold up to oil the last time I used them so just take the dog house to the hardware store and match up some o-rings. that will cure the smoke coming from there. the smoke is normal just not from there.

the ccv on the valve cover.

im 99.98% the torn boot is not leaking because of how its torn .there is still all of the boot under the clamp. it torn between the clamp and turbo...the extra that sticks out past the clamp is torn.

o ok. i read it wrong, i thought you had already done the mod and you noticed the smoke coming out afterwards.

yea TJs' got your back! thats what i would do. find replacement o-rings locally. TSC usually has like an 0-ring assortment pack!

lol PMS is GOOD except for the wallet! like you said, might as well do it while your in there! i like your thinking!

If it's blowing between the doghouse and valve cover, the doghouse itself might be a little bit clogged up. It's packed with coarse steel wool. Might be a good idea to rinse it out with solvent when you have it off to replace the o-rings.
