V-10 Gearing
I am thinking of stepping up to a bigger camper which will weigh 9000# max weight but probably more like 8000# max weight. I have ruled out a diesel due to the fairly short trips I would be taking and the fact that I only commute 10 miles to work. I forgot to mention the camper would be a fifth wheel. I think the v-10 would be my best bet but I am not sure on the 373 or 430 gearing. I realize on the towing specks that there is about 2000# difference in towing capacity. Does anybody have any experience or advice with the two ratios they could share. The truck would be an F-250 Sd extended cab. Thanks,Brent.

V-10 Gearing
When I started checking into different chips diablo, super chips, HPIII, I found that the HPIII doesn't really do anything until WOT, that's not where I needed the power since I really don't use the high RPM range all that much. From there it was just a personel preference between the other two. Diablo is suposed to deliver a little more all around power. I wanted to get my speedo recalled after getting the bigger tires but always got the BS from dealers about doing that is illegal. With a chip they just put in the new numbers and its done. If I had gottent the chip first I would have went to 34" tires, it would certainly pull them.
I haven't had an opertunity to load it up and head for the hills yet but don't see any problem. You will need to run atleast the mid grade gas after making the switch, it will ping on the cheap stuff. I got around 1.8 miles better by doing this, a quieter engine, and a bigger smile factor.
Next week I am looking into getting a Borla muffler more for sound than anything else, I am tired of being wisper quiet. I tried the removing the stock muffler thing, but it was a tad more noise than I wanted. I work rotating shifts either leave very early in the morning or coming home very late at night. The neighbors (much less the wife) mentioned that always knew when I was coming or going so I put it back on.
