i have an 02 v10 and shot my connecting rod through the block sometime in may. somehow i still drove a few miles as it spewed oil everywhere. i got it replaced under warranty but i was wondering if this seemed to be just a random case or a common problem. so far ive seen it as only my problem. my new one runs quite well but then again it is brand new and i do drive it to its limits.
the first one had 73000 miles and i was just driving on the highway. i said screw it i need to make it home and i know it blew but it was still running with a hole the size of my fist in the block.
i assumed it could be my fault instead of an actual problem. i commonly went mudding and i have taken some intense jumps but nothing seemed to be a problem other than bent leafs. i never sucked up mud or water and always had it maintained. im also the second owner and have no idea what happened to my truck before i bought it. it seems like everytime i took it to the scumbag dealers something new broke days later. once i got my engine replaced i had noticed one engine mount was unbolted and the a/c pump or whatever is at the bottom for the a/c was also unbolted, and 3 days after, my power steering and fuel sender relay or whatever is on my tank stopped working. all i did was drive like 60 miles and they stopped altogether. i had fluid and wasnt doing anything stupid. i havnt done anything but baby this new engine.
