I have heard nothing of this. What kind of mileage would one get with 600 hungry cubic inches?
a few less than a 8.1L (496cid) chevy, hahaha!
it would be a toss up.........my mud drag truck (estimated 3mpg hwy hahaha), or driving the new 600cid Super Duty thats in the drive way, hahaha!
not to say it wouldn't be cool, emissions would kill the output i'd imagine. not to sy it wouldn't be cool to have a 600+ cid SD in the drive way, hahaha!
I don't think this guy was lying...he has helped Ford develop several new engines and prototype vehicles... although we were having a gas vs. diesel "discussion"...lol
I don't ever forsee a 600 cu.in engine from Ford in any vehicle.
I'm sure engine displacement will do nothing but decrease in years to come.
I'll hold onto my V10 because I doubt a smaller or bigger displacement V8 will give the performance and fuel economy that I'm getting with my v10 in my 7,000lb truck.
Makes sense to me if the motor incorporates VVT technology to cut off 1/2 of the motor during normal highway operation, and only uses the full 600 cubes when the go pedel drops. I hope it's true, otherwise, I feel like the guy above, keep the V-10 till it craters. I just can't imagine a 5.4 ever equaling what this V-10 does. I'd never be happy unless Ford offered me more power in a gas motor.
Don't you blaspheme in here! Don't you BLASPHEME in here! I would wait in line for a 600-inch V-8 in a Super Duty! With today's technology, I bet it could get at LEAST the fuel economy my old '85 454 got with a 4-bbl carb and no overdrive!
Is that a new engine coming out? Maybe I heard him wrong??
I don't know, like i said, I have been out of the loop....It just sounding like...well the way he said it was like everyone knew about this but me...
It sure is. Code named Boss (changed from Hurricane). Supposed to be out by 2010, but could make an early entrance into the NEW 2009 F150...along with a rumored 4.5L or 4.4L diesel (I keep forgetting the diesel facts)
As for the 6.2L in the SD line...that should be in 2010 with the re-designed SD front...and other minor changes.
Depending on the bore and stroke of this 6.2L...could make a very interesting V8. Time will tell...
