i have also used harbor freight impact sockets and have not broken one. i used them almost everyday at work and i hamer them with my cp impact. about a month ago i needed to replacethe trans in my 250 so i decided to pull it my self to save a few hundred buck. so there 800lb capacity trans jack was on sale for 99 and i hade a fifteen percent off cupon so i figured id pick one up. well that this is the single biggest piece of crap i have ever seen. the adjustments were a joke some times if you turnes the **** a whole turn it wouldnt move then some times you look at the damn **** and the whole thing almost tips over it moved so much. the chain that they came with it was a joke and the whole thing was bending and swaying with every pump to raise it. Now i know that the e4od is a bis trans but it doesnt way anywhere near 800lbs. i could not even get the trans back it to place with it so i returned it.
Harbor Freight has given me some good air tools for home use. Like others have said I wouldn't want to make a living using them but for home they work very well. I bought there air nailers (framing, finish, and brad) and they have worked well. I have also picked up some air air tools for cutting on the F100 but haven't put them to the test so far. I was looking at buying some good Impact wrenches from somewhere else but then I thought for ocasional use why not go with HF. They have done me well so far. You have to know your tools and know that some things there will be worthless if you don't know what to look for.
Friend of mine bought the tranny jack for pulling the trans out of his Dodge diesel. He had to modify the base to make it halfway stable but it worked. Not great but better than brute force. He used to a Snap On only type of guy, but I had bought him a set of HF impacts for freebe work he had one for me and he ended up liking them a lot. Has used them for a couple of years now without problems. Only thing is they are thick walled so if needing to get in a tight place they won't work.
I have a couple of their impacts and have had good luck with them and some of their other air equipment. Since the HF store is close it isn't a problem when I've had to take a few of their things back, like the 10" compound miter saw and palm sander. The sander lasted about 5 minutes before breaking and the saw never was used since it moved so rough I knew I didn't want it. Exchanged it for a 12" and have been happy with it.
