I do very little welding But, now can do none. My stick welder just quit working.( SMALL LINCOLN)
Just wandering if anyone has any experience with one of the H.F. STICK welders.I already have a Lincoln wire feed welder. But do not want to spend much when i do so little welding.
Let me know what your experience has been- especially if you are familiar with the ac/dc "arc 180"

Reason: forgot something
A little more info would help.
I have welded for a few years. Any miller or lincoln with AC/DC capability will treat you well for a casual or farm welder.
i just bought a Miller mig weld last mounth. Before buying i did alot of reading of reviews on different makes/model. From what i got on the H.F. wire welders (i figure the stick would be similare) is they work but they aren't that great. There is little adjustment and what adjustment there is isn't that good and the duty cycles are really short.
I picked my miller up used. Its two years old and still in great shape. It was about the price of a new midgrade welder but i feel its still a lot better machine.
As long as you get one that has adjustable amperage not ranges you should be fine for occasional stick welding. The cheap ones have shorter duty cycles. Means you have to let it rest more often. I have a cheap miller matic knock off, amp crank on top, dual voltage 120/240 works great. I paid around $200 from a tool liquidator.
