I have known what a K & N can do for a while and have had it on other trucks. I finally got off my butt and bought one for My 99 SD CC 250 V10. WOW! what a difference...
I have an Excursion 4x4 v10, I am responding to the K&N posting. I added a K&N airfilter along with a 50 series Flowmaster 1 in and 2 out muffler, with 4" dual pipes. I love the difference. I feel like I could pull the world. I also purchased the Tornado Air. At "Monter's" request I am currently performing an experiment on the effecacy of this product. I will report my personal findings with a new posting. I DO recommend the K&N and Flowmaster Products for those with V10's it is music to my ears.

master???? general monsta... what the hell are you doing to the newbies to get them to feel this way???? man... bring one of those bj's this way!!!! (or send that sister of yours!!! lol).
as for performace of these mods.... i'd put them up there with amsoil oil.... it probably works but not enough....
ok ok... i could feel a slight difference. the sound of the intake was worth it all!
chip should be here when i get back from bike week.... so hopefully that will help the other two mods work together better.
btw... PETRE... dude, where have you been.... did you send me that 25" four link yet??? maybe you can also send a pair of borla headers too.... i'd like to get rid of that stock y-pipe and might as well go all the way!!! thanks man... you are the best.
I've been torn on the K&N FIPK for my V10... Some posts say they couldn't tell the difference while others put it in the sliced bread category.
What gives? Are the performance gains of the FIPK just like those reported by the "Tornado Air Swirler" crowd... i.e. "I spent money on it so it has to help"?
I have been toying with the idea to enlarge the air cleaner box opening. I first thought that allowing more air from differnt directions would increase HP. Now I am having second thoughts.
Okay here is a question for the auto engineers ( kinda of a fluid dynamics question.) The opening is small to the air box. Small opening entering to a large opening means the air sucking through the hole is turbulent air at a high velocity. Turbulent air mixes better with gas vapor once it enters the engine. The more turbulent the flow the better mixing that occurs. Would increasing the openings to allow a greater air flow at a slower velocity(I.e. creating lamiar Flow) result in less mixing and less HP?
Ideally, you want laminar flow up until the very point where the air and fuel meet. Then, you want turbulence so that the mixture is more complete- resulting in a better "burn".
