Hey all, I've got a 79 f-150 2wd 351m and I was wondering of they made a serpentine belt conversion kit for these. Any help would be great, thanx. Jace
To the best of my knowledge, no. There are, I believe, companies that make conversions for the windsor series and the 385 series (460,etc.) I think one of the members, danlee, has a serpentine setup on his engine. Hopefully he'll chime in with what he did.
You can also use the search for this forum only and see what comes up. I think I've seen it discussed before.
I did a serpentine conversion on my 408 (D1AE block). I used a March dual belt conversion kit for a 351W. However I had to have a custom alternator bracket made. I relocated the alternator to mount on the block instead of the normal location on the head. The normal alt location puts the Alt pulley too far forward to line up with the March Pulley.
On my 434 (D7TE block), the hole wasn't drilled. I had to drill and tap the block to install the alternator.
I am presently in the process of converting to a Saginaw PS pump, using a March bracket and serpentine pulley for a Saginaw PS pump.
I don't have an AC compressor. That could be done, but you need an idler pulley.
