E4OD versus the other 4RW100 (?????)

How the heck do you know which one ya got ? My V-10 is a 98, do I have the E4OD ? What's up with the other one ? Is it newer, better, stronger, faster ??? I've heard plenty of horror stories about the E4OD although I've had 5 of them, and NEVER had a problem. But I do change the fluid often and always have a tranny cooler. Ken

E4OD versus the other 4RW100 (?????)

The 4R100 is basically an updated E4OD.It is improved to handle more torque.I'm not sure when the switch was made.I think it was offered before 98.

Not sure about the HD trucks & vans, but the 4R100 didn't come out in the F150s/Expeditions until 1999.
