They VIN lock when the vehicle is programmed. When the vehicle is restored to the factory tune they can then be used on another truck. Make sure he followed the instructions in the book for restoring it. With the Predator there is both a factory performance tune, and the originally read tune. It needs to be restored to the originally read tune, not the factory performance tune.
Plug it in, it will let you know if its locked.

Depending on when he bought his Predator it may not work at all. The 2007 F150 doubled the size of the on-board EPROM. If the Predator was produced prior to Diablo making enough memory available on the unit, it will likely not work. Or, you may be lucky and its a fairly recent unit which can be updated via Diablo's web site.

My Predator has been used so far on an 04 and an 06. The only issue that I have had was while doing a custom dyno tune and that was sorted out in about 15 minutes with a call to Diablosport. BTW that custom tune gained me an additional 10 RWHP and 22 rear wheel foot pounds of torque over and above the 93 octane tune in the programmer. My truck is making 290 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels, or I should say was, because I just had a 3" Magnaflow exhaust install done. Won't get a chance to dyno it again until around Christmas.
With the custom tune and the Magnaflow I now have to say that there is no lag effect left from the electronic throttle control. Passing is a very different and uplifting experience. Not uncommon to be going 100 mph at the end of a pass. Don't try this at home!
Later in the week I will be resetting for 87 octane as that is all I will be able to get where I will be living. For those of you complaining about gas prices let me tell you that I will also be paying $1.50 per litre for the privilege of putting that 87 octane in my tank.
