2000 Expedition, 5.4L. The pcv valve buzzes all the time, which I will assume is some type of vaccuum leak? Code p1405/service engine comes one & goes out about every 50 miles. Should I replace the pcv hoses or egr sensor?? Or replace both??
P1405 - I had that code recently. I checked my upstream egr hose and it was rotten and had cracked. You actually have to pull it off to discover the crack. once changed the code disappeared. '00 XP EB 5.4 AWD.
Is that hose a cut-to-length item from parts store or a Ford only part. Would you have the Ford part number?

01 XLT 5.4 - FWIW - Recently had PCV failure symptoms (no codes - excessive blue smoke on startup) at 80k miles, replaced the original MC valve, which immediately solved the problem. The only one the parts store had was a Fram. After replacing, started getting the loud buzzing in the engine compartment, traced it to the PCV valve. Read on another site that if you replace the PCV valve, use a MC - Fram and others use a spring that resonates/buzzes. Haven't tracked down a MC PCV yet, but expect that will solve the buzzing issue.

I checked the upstream hose and when I grabbed it near the the EGR Sensor, it split. Replaced it today & cleared the code. We'll see what happens over the next 50 miles or so..... Thanks.
Now the pcv, is it common for them to continually rattle or buzz?? It's not really loud or annoying, it just noticable when the hood is open.
Is the replacement hose just a regular/appropriate size of rubber hose or something you had to buy with specific part number?
BTW, I use a replacement PCV I got from Autozone, I don't get any buzzing sound at all.
Thanks
