Flashlights
Just wondering what everybody else uses.
What brand and type of flashlight do you carry in your truck? How many do you carry and where are they stored / mounted.
Same question for around your home.
Why do you use what you do; how do you like them and are there any brands or types you don't like?
Personally, I have a 2 D cell mag lite in the center console of my F350, a mini-Maglite (LED version) in the driver's door compartment and a Surefire P6 in the glove box. At home I have a 3 D cell Maglite in the kitchen and Surefire P6's in the livingroom, bedrooms and garage. The only room without a flashlight is the bathroom. I like the Maglites for their ruggednesss. The only downside is that after a few years the rubber covering on the switch dries out and cracks, but Maglites are cheap. The Surefire's aren't cheap but they are waterproof and they are BRIGHT! Oh yeah, I also have an LED mini light on my keyring.

I got a 3D Mag in my Ranger, just rolling around. A 4D Energizer flashlight in the master bedroom. A 2AA Mag in my Leatherman case, with my Leatherman. Got another 4D Energizer flashlight somewhere around here.
At work, I got a black 2AA mag in my toolbox, a white LED Streamlight, and a blue LED Streamlight.
A few months back, at Costco, I was seriously looking at a big sucker flashlight, put out something like 100 million candlepower. I swear, it must have been an adapted landing light from a 747.

maglight (see my sig)
in my ranger i had it mounted right next to the drivers seat, haven't mounted it in my 250 yet.
it's totally indestructible. thrown, dropped, and rolled it everywhere. it's a little pricey at $90ish, but not having to buy those stupid D cell batteries adds up quick. It's the size of the 3D regular one. It could be brighter, but I've never seen anything tougher (even though you seem to think otherwise). The million+ deals always seem like crap and break.

Big Truck and big lite
I have a 6 cell Mag lite under the center front seat of my truck. It doubles as an sleep aide for small woodland creatures and other things that go bump in the night.
There is a Crafstman LED stubby light in the door pocket.
I have a pair of little Craftsman LED clip on lights in the console.
There is a rechargable LED trouble light under the back seat.
I have 2 or 3 Stylus 4A Led pen lights in various tool bags.

I have a B&D flashlight that is a lot like the 3 cell Maglight except it uses the B&D rechargeable batteries from their cordless screwdrivers. Bought it at Dollar General and haven't found another one since then. Best darn flashlight I've ever had. Has been abused and since I have a few of the batteries when one goes dead just put another one in and the dead one in the charger. Has the adjustable beam on it also. Sure do wish I could find another.

I have 2 surefires a Inova led and some D cell mags, I sug. going to home depot and getting the led bulb for your D cell mags they are mag. brand and much brighter than the orig. bulb and don't eat the cells so fast. I use head lamps at work, most with side emitting led bulbs, also I have used a couple of the pelican lights, good lights also.

You cannot beat Stremlight. I have their three-way light in the truck, several Stlyus' around tool bags and a spotter on my AR-15.
Their consturction id much better than Mag and their service is great as well.

I have a Magcharger light like the cops carry. That thing is about 10 years old. I finally had to replace the battery stick ($24.00 for 2 off Ebay). It still works great. Its a little pricey at around $110.00 with chargers but worth it. Stream light makes some good rechargable lights also.

With my luck, flashlights are like snow and ice scrapers they have a way to grow legs. Usually get dollar store specials. Best luck so far with a couple of small mag lites I keep in my plumbing tool box and one in my electrical box.

I only use Maglites. I have a 2D and AA mag in my tool bag for work as well as a 2D LED mag for my car. The 2D mag for work was a regular one but I added the LED conversion to it.
Guys that are having problems with your mag, send it back to them as they have a lifetime warranty.
