K I'm running to the store for a fuel filter and I'm planning on buying some seafoam. If I run it the way your supposed to through the brake booster am I going to like smoke out the neighborhood? I don't want the fire department called or anything lol. It don't really smoke THAT much, does it?
It does, depending on how much carbon you've got in the intake system, but it doesn't last too long. I let it idle for a minute, then take off down the road and give it heck for a few miles it's kinda fun, actually.
Damn. Fuel filter was way harder than doing the seafoam. Could they put them in tighter spot? I couldn't get the back one out. I gotta go start it up in a few minutes but we're in a tornado warning lol what luck.
Wow between those two things it feels like a brand new truck. Perfect idle, smooth acceleration, and it feels like I picked up quite a bit of lost power I would definately recommend doing this.
so explain how you did this. what year truck and motor? ill do it tomorrow my fuel filter is past due. you ran it thru the brake booster? entire bottle?

Thats a good question. I have seen many posts on this subject, and I don't remember seeing anything on, How much to actually use.
You don`t actually run it through the brake booster.Disconect the vacuum supply hose to the booster and trickle it through the vacuum hose.Motor running of course.Have fun.

I just pulled off that hose like they said and poured about a third bottle in a cup, then I let it suck it in slowly (Don't let the truck die). Then when it's about gone I hurried up and let it take in the rest so it died. Then I went inside for 15 minutes, and came and took it for a spin. That was easy but the fuel filter is a different story.
I bought the tool and tried to pull the line. No luck. I pulled the fuel pump fuse and ran it til it died, then tried the line again. Finally it popped off the old filter. It was even tougher pulling the other end off, and gas goes EVERYWHERE. Then when the filter was undone I had to try to get it out of the clamp. The fuel filter took about an hour and a half, the seafoam took ten minutes.
