Does anyone have an exhaust diagram for a 96 F-350. It broke in between the manifolds and the cat, there is a knuckle of sorts and the studs just rusted off. I dont know what to order. I cant find those .iso files and the fordcds.com website isnt working.
I don't even pretend to know as much as many on here but I can say that most of us on here are yanking out the stock downpipe and going with at least a 3in dp from the turbo down. Some you can find go from 3in at the turbo to 4in at the cat. Some I think are even 3.5in at the turbo. Gut or remove the cat and go with at least 4in straight pipe all the way back. AFE has a nice system as do some other mfrs. When something breaks - UPGRADE!! Fixing the stock system is just not worth it at this point - IMHO. An upgrade exhaust will run better & cooler, sound better and get better mileage, even if that's all you do. Be careful of catching PMS though! (Powerstroke modification syndrome) You're on here so it's bound to happen sooner or later!

Thanks for the help bud. The wheels are definitly turning now.
I agree with all the above statements. You can get an entire system including the DP for around 400.00. It would be WELL worth it to do it now and not waste any money on the stock system. Your truck will LOVE you for it.
yep sounds like your down pipe is broken. Is it the pipe that goes right along the passenger side of the tranny? if so that the down pipe. The joint your are describing sounds like the ball and socket jount between the DP and the Cat. Is it the bolts or the pipe that is rusted out? if its the bolts then you might be able to replace them. If its the pipe it depends which side: DP or cat side. Either way if you need a new downpipe go with an aftermarket down pipe. If the factory ones are even availible they will cost you a bunch of money (tranny shop that worked on my truck before I bought it said they installed a new ford DP and it cost $750) and you can't get the factory pipe in with the tranny in the truck.
Aftermarket pipe will cost less than $150 and can be installed with the truck intact.
I removed my factory DP and the trans wasd out but it still was incredibly hard. I gree neww DP and probably exhaust. It will be cheaper and definately "more better". That is a technical term.
