[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Dec-01 AT 01:21 PM (EST)]I have 4300 miles on my '01, around town I'm getting about 10, on the road, empty I'm right around 12. But I do have a LEAD FOOT! Still looking forward to my first 1200 mile trip pulling my 7,000# T T in March.

I have always been complaining about the fuel mileage. I am driving in the mountains and with etheljunk fuel I usually see about 9-10 mpg. I sometimes drive like MAD MAX then I see 6.
I have a 25' TT that pulls like a dream but if I go over 65 my mpg gets pretty bad, but if I do 55-60 I usually get 11 ish even in high winds!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Dec-01 AT 08:45 PM (EST)]I have a 2001 Ford Superduty, 4 door, short bed, V10, 4x4 with the 4.30s and 7000 miles on it. I also have a 10-10.5in. lift in front and 8-8.5in. lift in the rear. I had Mickey Thompson 39/18-16.5 tires with 16.5/14 in Weld rims and around town (Las Vegas) I got about 8.5 mpg. I recently switched to superswamper tsl 39.5/15-16.5 and so I'll report once I get some miles on those. :+
I think anything over 10mpg is great for a beefy V10. Has anyone noticed a considerable difference in gas mileage with the 6 speed standard transmission? Just curious because I am planning on buying an F-250 CC with the V10 & 6 speed standard.
Hows the MPG in your truck and be honest . I'm just curious to see because you have about the same setup as me but with the 4.56 gears and the heavier Swamper Radials. :+

let me run the numbers for you (i will post later today).
mine will be off though. i have not yet installed a truspeed or chip to fix my odometer, so it is off and that will throw the calculation off. i have taken a couple of hundred mile trips and crossed checked the odo with the gps, so i will try and calculate for the percentage error with the difference in those (i will give both sets of numbers since they will both likely not be exact).
how have you calculated? do you have chip or truspeed, or is your odo off like mine?
also.... we might have different numbers due to driving styles, temps, and elevations. (i am a lead foot, the temps since i have lifted my rig prob have averaged in the upper 50's, and i drive mostly at sea level).
i need to run the numbers in a little better fashion.... but i ran a couple in my head.... looks like my odo reads about 85% of true mileage and taking that into consideration it looks like i am getting about 7.8 MPG.
OOPs - Finger check - make that 210 vs 310... (325 would be nice though )
What can I say - I think faster than I type and by the time my finger hit the 3, I was thinking about 425 ft lbs of torque - besides that, I'm beginning to think that when I'm working on the computer, my fingers have a mind of their own.....

E.P.A says 9-11mpg for v-10,epa says 9-14 for a 390 which
will actually pull 6-10mpg. Gas mileage is not a major
factor with trucks for those rare few people that
will actually make a truck do work these days. Most
people use em cause it helps thier ego when they
go to pick up 2 1/2 pounds of grocerys. hah what a
disgrace!.. no offense just cant help but notice.
I get 10-12 mpg in my V-10 when I'm standing on the loud pedal. But I CAN get 15+ mpg when I drive likes I gots me sum lurnin'. But why buy a V-10 if you can't surprise the little jerk-offs in their Civics with their neon lit, 19" wheeled, fart pipe equipped rice burners with stereos more powerful than their wheezing 1.8 liter 4 cylinders?I can almost generate enough SUCK power as I go by to turn their baseball caps around the RIGHT way. Must make their teeny-bopper girlfriends envious eh ?
