Replaced my 15K mile Ranchos with Bilstein HDs. Won't really know the difference till I hook onto my trailer and drag it around, but the average ride feels much better.
These shocks are valved much better to control the power the spring forces apply. The porpoising is all but gone, so I am encouraged.
I changed out my skyjacker shocks for the bilstien 5100's (I think thats the series) and they do great. I do alot of four wheeling and they hold up just fine, have about 25k mile son them now.
My Fathers 2001 SD CC 4x4 had one leaky Bilstein rear shock after about 12,000 miles. However, out of 8 shocks total ( 2 SD trucks...mine and Dad)...only one going bad thus far isn't bad.
I personally like the improved ride the Bilsteins HD give over Stock Ranchos that came with the FX4 package. A good all around stock...
GENERAL WARRANTY DETAILS
ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America warrants its gas pressure shock absorbers against defects in workmanship and materials for as long as you, the original purchaser, own your car.
If at any time after purchase or installation, the shock malfunctions and Bilstein determines it to be defective, we will either replace it or repair it.
There are only a few specific exceptions to this warranty. They include:
original equipment shock absorbers - which are warrantied by the original equipment manufacturer.
improper installation,
racing, driving competition or off-road use,
use on modified or other than Bilstein-recommended vehicles.
Bent or Broken Rods showing abuse or abnormal wear
Looks like the 5100 series may only be a 90 day warranty. Yet another reason to buy the HDs?

Not to hijack but I put the HDs on my 99 F350 4X4 about a month ago and now when i'm in traffic and inch forward and hit the brakes the front end seems to rock alot. I didn't seem to notice it as much with the oe shocks with 110k and both fronts were leaking. is this normal or did i get defective shocks? the front end will bounce up and down a good 4 or 5 times before it settles down.
