Break in Period?
Can anyone point me to a prior thread or perhaps on article on this subject? Also, should I wait any period before putting on a K&N fipk, chip, and cat back system?
Thanks!!

The "drive it like you stole it" school motors always seem to develop good power. Don't know about longevity.

or better yet, drive it like it's a rental. I bot my van from the Budget rent a car fleet. And I tell you what, it RUNS like a striped @ss ape. My 93 AWD Aerostar came out of the local Ford dealers rental fleet, and it was the same thing, ran like a bandit. And rental rigs always get the best of care with scheduled maintenance, recalls, etc.

Without going into a lot of the reasons why, here's what I try to do when I am able to control myself.
For the first 1000mi. I do not like to use a lot of heavy throttle and like to vary the rpms.a bit.I stay away from long hard full throttle pulls.I won't tow a load for 500mi.and generally won't work the engine real hard for the first 1000mi.I also like to change the oil the first 1000mi.
Engines take a few thousand miles to give their expected fuel mileage and I tend to believe that it doesn't do an engine much good to rush into running the p!$$ out of it.I am not afraid to use an engine but I do feel that it doesn't hurt to give an engine a few miles to loosen up before running it hard. That way it isn't fighting it's own friction on top of being run with a load.
Like I said it's just my .02

I ordered from Earnhardt Ford in Tempe. I first contacted Berge Ford in Mesa but they wanted $1000.00 which is absurd since they they are making an additional $1200.00 on the dealer holdback!!
I'm paying $500.00 over the cost at Earnhardt. When it comes in I'm going to tell them that was talking about their TRUE cost with the holdback applied. This should mean about $800 under invoice if I'm lucky and they go for it.
I got the cold shoulder at Berge but was very happy with Ralph and Tom, my salesmen, at Earnhardt.
