I am having an issue with my 7 pin trailer connector. The pin for the trailer brake keeps corroding when nothing is connected to it. When I go to plug the 5th wheel into it there is the green corrosion buildup on it. I have replaced the connector on the truck once and it is happening again. Anyone know why it is only the brake pin and what is causing it?
i bet when you push on the brake you are putting 12 volts to that pin, probably has moiture or something giving it a path to the ground wire. maybe try pulling the fuse for the brakes if you have one. or spray the connector full of a spray grease??
The indicator light on the brake controller only works when the trailer is plugged in. I will get a volt meter and check it out though. Maybe the system still supplies 12v and the light only comes on if the circuit is closed.
