I have the 5in catback on an 06. It came with the high flow muffler. My question is will running the muffler delete from mbrp make it more loud, or will it sound about the same. I dont have a cat either. Just wondering if it is worth the extra 40 bucks
Muffler delete from my experince when compared to the MBRP or Bully dog mufflers have no benefits and the sound seems the same (or I can not tell the difference). With an after market muffler such as MBRP the cat is the restrictive item - however you took care of that by deleting it.
My opinion stay with the MBRP muffler as it eliminates the drone sound some experience with "straight pipes". However I never heard droning effect on the 6L's and it maybe so because of the higher revving 6L engine seems and/or more dominent hearing turbo noise.
I did the same experiment recently. Mine is a 4" exhaust. Without the muffler, the sound is certainly more, but not deafening. However, there was no EGT, or economy difference that I could tell. Plus, I got a hard vibration right around 1500 rpms. So I put the MBRP high flow muffler back on.
my opinion.... if you did the install then you saw th muffler is a straight through design! why change it? mine sounds awesome since i euphanized the kitty!
