For several weeks now, after my 04 F350 (80,000 mi) has sat overnight or several days of not driving it. When i crank it up (after the glow plug light goes out), it will run rough for 5 or so seconds then clear up, or i can turn it off and immeadiately restart and it will run fine from then on out.
I took it to a dealer last Monday so the tech could put it on the computer, when he started it up the next morning. So today i go to get my truck and was told that the egr was replaced since it was caked up bad and the starter was replaced So i go to get in my truck to leave, upon cranking it, it sounded worse then when i took it in...WTF!! Tech said he had it on the scan tool and couldn't get anything to come up, and that it was starting to run rough like the rpms were not getting up for 3-5 seconds more often...it had all the lastest updates for the computer already. I gave them the key back, to fix it, and walked away pissed off....
Anyone have any suggestions?? I though it might be the injectors.....
I hope they warrantied the starter. If it was cranking when you took it in then.........Those things are TOUGH. I second the injector problem, but if it's got the latest flash then it should get better quickly. If he's relying soley on the scan tool to diagnose a problem then you might want to find a different tech. How long has it been since you had a fuel filter service and do you run any additives? How long since your last oil change and what brand of oil? If you still can't get any satisfaction then DO try a bottle of HSS. It can only help and may cure your rough starts.
It has the latest updated flash... approx 1500 miles on oil change...fuel filter change due in 2500 miles... I run 16 oz of DK @ every fillup. I'll give 'em till Wednesday to get it right, before i go get it and take it elsewhere. They tried to bend me over on the starter, but i wasn't having none of it.
