any one else with 305/65/18's having problems??? ok guys last saturday i put on 4 brand new 305/65/18 bfg all terrain tires, well on my 1.5 hour ride home i had a bad vibration between 65-75 mph... well after it has been back to the tire place 3 times , one new tire has been installed and the tires have been road force balanced twice, the first time they just road forced them and thats when they found the bad tire. The second time they dismounted all tires and remounted and road forced all tires again? still have the same problem? on another note ironicly last sat urday i also drained the pan in my tranny and refilled with sp and the level looks perfect to me? the tire guy told me maybe the tourque converter doesnt like the tires? ive never heard such a thing? anyways i told him i would drive it for the weekend and call him monday, he said he would order 4 new tires and start from scratch.... im just sick of having to go to the tire place every other day! they have been great and i really appreciate there customer service trying to solve the problem....
I put a set of 325x60x18" Nitto's on my F350 CC FX4 and have had no problems at all. The ride is good and the truck handles well. I had a set of the BFG and do not intend on going back to them. Had problems with the last two sets. (it took a lot of weight to make them balance, then I could not keep them balanced)
ya i thought that was good too.... well ive got four new tires coming, but i cant fit it in my schedule untill next saturday.... so ill keep you guys posted, im not sure what im gonna do if they dont balance out, ill have to explore other tires i guess, i just love the size! they look so good!
I have the 285's and they had a bit of a vibration between 70-75 which smoothed out on either side of that. They took a few hundred miles to break in or get tacky. The vibration has been lessening and I don't feel anything at all loaded down or towing.
I certainly would not accept your problems though, they are great tires, but if you search, you will see that many have had similar issues with balancing. You may want to consider some of the other brands, I would have gone with the Pro-Comp Extreme AT's or regular AT's if I was to do it again, but would have needed wider rims to do it according to their specs.
Luckily, my BFG's are doing great and are doing really well on my F250.
