AC Noise
2005 EB 4.6V8. When the ac compressor cycles, I hear a howling sound for a few seconds. Seems to be cooling OK with no other noises. Anyone experience in the Exp or other Ford Trucks? Hard to describe the noise but it sounds kind of like a high pitch dog howling - A Rooooh

Mine does it too ('02 XLT V-8), except it's called a hoot. Known issue with the gen 3 Explorers and it does it more often and louder the hotter the ambient temperature gets. There is a TSB on the issue with no remedy specified. I've seen the full text TSB somewhere but don't remember where. Here's a link to the abbreviated TSB for '02 models:
