First off, let me start out by saying my local dealers were poor to fair handling the situation with my blown transmission.
1st dealer would not lift a finger to help.....2nd dealer did fiix the trans at "warranty rate" which saved me some $$$.
After personally fighting with Ford for nearly 2 months, all I could get was $750 on a $2,200 repair. The transmission was 4 days out of warranty!!!
Only after my brother-in-law got the owner of his dealership involved did anything worthwhile happen. The dealership that came through did not sell me the truck nor was even in the same state!!!
Less than 1 week after contacting my B-I-L's dealership, I was offered either $1,000 ADDITINAL CASH to help pay for the repair OR $2,000 off ANY Ford Lincoln Mercury PLUS a Premium Care 6/75 warranty (total $3,500 value)
I hate the fact that I had to fight so hard for what ended up being a very fair settlement......but my thanks goes out to:
GALPIN FORD
Van Nuys, California.
PM me if you want my B-I-L's name/number.
While I have bought a few cars from Galpin, the F-250 in question was not purchased from them.
Amazing that a dealership that had no stake in this whatsoever went to bat for me......they have a customer forever.

Glad to hear Ford as a corporation came through. All the auto makers have their moments but Ford seems to me to be to get the least amount of complaints about standing behind products judging from internet banter. Some real horror stories out there about GM and Toyota.
Dealerships, on the other hand, are pot luck. Seems like the more $$ you spend at a particular dealer the worse they treat you! Go figure.
Im curious as to why you keep having transmission failures?? perhaps you are not driving the properly. My 95 is 12 years old and only had one tranny failure and that was within the first 3 months of delivery and 100% operator error but was replace under warranty.and i'm about ready to roll 200k. What's your excuse?

Fairly well known fact that 4100R's have/had issues............and pulling your little K-Mart 20" lawnmower is a tad different than pulling a 23' boat with a big block in it. (even though that was done less than 5% of the time)
So how is one supposed to "driving the properly"??? What; Fords can't take it, they need to be babied???
Don't you have some latrines to clean or sumpin'???......

The 4R100 is an interesting beast.
It will fail, its just a matter of when.
I know one that failed routinely every 1600miles. (thats not a misprint)
I know others that have gone 300kmiles without a rebuild.
One thing is for sure - the Las Vegas heat that DOHC has to deal with wouldn't help the transmission... but having said that, its no real excuse for failure.

Actually Fred, I'm blaming this last failure on you. You obviously don't know how to drive; pretty sure that 5 minutes behind the wheel is what finally did it in.
