i finially got my engine block painted and am going to start re-assembly.......
i've purchase a chrome valve cover but am unhappy with the quality. i'm running 3 x 1 barrel carbs with some nice aircleaners, but thats about all i have........
is there anyone out there with parts for us 240/300 guys? or stuff for another engine that will cross over?
i'm looking for anything from a chrome dipstick or fuel pump blank off plate to accessory brackets......... is a pushrod cover too much to ask?
thanks for the reply,
but offenhauser only makes 4 barrel intakes for 300's (and have 3 x 1 setup)
I don't think edelbrock makes anything for the 300's currently. and i'm not familiar with Fenton, i searched some and couldn't find anything about them.
hacking; thanks for the link, that is a great site for 170/200/250 guys.... for those might not know, the 240/300 is a different block.
teds74; thanks, i like that pirate4x4 site, used to hang there quite a bit when i was wheeling hard. i've thought about getting some of my stuff chromed, it's just out of my budget (or i'm just too cheap) current plan it to repaint the factory parts to make them look alittle better.
i was just thinkging that items like thermostate housings, v-belt pulleys, distributor hold down, coil mount/bracket etc......... that are sold/listed for other applications will fit (or with slight modification) the 300.
and someone one this board has figured a few out.
I think by now you are getting the idea--that stuff doesn't exist. You can get an alternator fan and pulley in chrome, likewise a distributor hold down--coil bracket--no ----dipstick -yes if you make your own from a universal dipstick. Side lifter cover--no-I made my own finned aluminum one from 1/2 inch aluminum plate on my mill. Thermostat housing-no--polish yours. This is the voice of experience talking as I had the same idea as you. Use lots of chrome bolts and bolt head covers. I also had my valve cover chromed as it is a late EFI engine and the valve cover is different than the earlier ones. Note >>>>I have a free (new) chrome earlier cover that is missing an internal baffle, if any one is interested.
The down side of all this engine dress up is that most of the chrome work is cheap and rusts fast. The engine looks nice for 6 month or so and unless you clean the hell out of it and wax it, it rusts, sort of not worth the expence if it is a daily driver and gets wet and dirty.
Go visit a quality power coating shop and see what they have to offer. Lot's of color and textures. Textures that look like anodized alum. If you have not seen what they are doing in the last few years, you will be suprised. Power coating is a really tough coating and can look better than chrome.
I rebuilt my motor and rattle caned the motor block, oil pan, side cover. My valve cover was in good condition so I left it as is, but now I wish I wolud have painted it because the stuff I painted is holding up great. It came out dang good. The key to a good paint job is the prep work gettin all the oil off. House hold Comet cleaner and a skotch pad works great for final cleaning. I was real close to waxing my oil pan one day because it looked so good. I thought of my self as one sick puppy. Waxed items are e-zer to clean though.

Yeah, think they did have a few odds and ends for the 240/300 at one time.....If i'm not mistaken they're suppose to have some stuff for the big six coming this fall or spring one....all we can do is keep hoping!
I know i've seen a billet pushrod cover too that was really high quality, but I can't remember the site. I'll do some digging and see what I come up with...
