Hmmmm...I don't know. That Titan has a better crawl ratio 35.3:1 (due to the much lower first gear) versus yours at 27.5:1 and has more torque ta boot.
i no nothing about gearing or anything like that other than i have a huge truck with a kick *** exhaust and a v10. so all i am going to say is good luck and do america proud!!!
recently my friends were having a good time in thier parking lot and everyone got a little cocky. One just bought a new escalade(07) a 05 dodge 3500 cc long bed diesel and an 00 ford 250 sc long bed v10.The dodge pulled the ford like no tommorow and then the escalade pulled the dodge like no tommorow .funny sight to see.all were in 4 low cept the escalade. So you never know
Tug o wars dont prove anything. Tug o wars depend on hw good the driver is. Ur better off straping a 10,000 pound trailer to each and then find a grade and see who tows it up the hill faster.
I recently went up to Yankee Lake in Brookfield OH for Friday night "Truck Night" and watched all the fun including the tug-of-war......had a great time there BTW. Anyways, I tell my boss at work about it and now he wants to hook up his 2004 Nissan Titan to my 04 SD to see who will pull who.
ooooooookay
First of all, he did some performance mods to his truck like exhaust, cold air intake, chip, traction bars and he recently had it dynoed at the Nissan event out near Philly (I think thats where it was) and he dynoed somewhere around 350 ft lbs torque at the rear wheels and I cant remember what his HP rating was. He got 6 inch lift and 35's and the truck looks good and runs good.
I got all stock driveline, exhaust, everything stock except I have the cold air intake, and any mods I did to my truck were actually detrimental to its performance.....like the lift and tires. My truck spec'd out from the factory with 350 ft lbs of torque at the flywheel so hes already got me beat there, but I also got him by curb weight, mines about 700lbs heavier than his.
So should I take him up on this little wager, or politley decline? I am a little weary of either one of us braking something regardless of who wins, I mean even if I won I would hate for it to be because he broke something.
oh and the wager.........loser has to post the video on his truck forum (hes a big poster on a Titan forum) other than that its all in fun, but like I said Id hate to see either of us brake something.
So what do you guys think? Do it or dont do it?
DO IT!!! ill come down to brookfield next friday and cheer you on...where do you live? im in lordstown, but pretty much live in niles w/ my g/f...goodluck and ill be there with my 5.4 cheering you on...let me know what your doing!!!...
Your truck should weigh a good bit more than his, which would give you another advantage. I say go for it.
Exactly.
A NISSAN against a Superduty?
Shear weight will get you the win - fill the gas tank, for starters.
See, the more your truck weighs, the more traction it will have. Of course, bigger tires means less pounds per square inch of tire contact with the pavement, but even still, weight will be the determining factor.
If it were me, I'd just stand on the brakes (maybe pulling the ABS fuse for the heck of it) with an auto. Let him try to pull you. As soon as he starts spinning his wheels (or jumping on all fours) hit the gas, release the brakes slowly, and pull him away.

LOL Im 2 hours away from Yankee Lake, but I will be going up there again sometime. The challenge will probably be next Saturday, I work 4PM-Mid this coming week so maybe we will do it in the parking lot before work
nah what if we BOTH did that then we would just sit there, we already agreed that once we get tightened up we both just let off the brakes and go at it
should be an easy win for you as long as you follow all the advise already given. Lowering your tire air pressure, 4whl low, and weight in the bed is a definet traction getter................
can't wait to here how far you drag him around.........good luck, be safe, and post the video
