well i was on my way to work this morning and all seemed good i was running on my back tank took a fast left and it just dies and will not fire it was running good up until that point which it rarely does on the back tank
now when i got home i checked for fuel pressure squirts just fine the i popped the coil wire off checked for spark ok yellow sparks enuf to cough at least pulled a plug wire and i have spark
now its dead any ideas i just needed this truck to make it thru the weekend and then its parts or toy i'm thinkin the former now
well i double checked all my checks last night while my fuddie was over turns out i dont have fuel pressure i thought i did because i checked it before i towed it hame and tried pull starting en route to home i think the injectors and fuel pumps are down this whole truck is just gonna go for parts i think hopefully i'll get the loan i need for my new(er) 96 f-150 but any whoo would the little inertia switch shut down the fuel inj to and where can i find it in my regular cab truck
You have a safety switch in the fuel pump circuit called a inertia switch. It has a pendulum that swings, and if it swings too far, it will cut the fuel pumps off. It's location varies, but I would look behind the passenger side kickpanel first.
well i looked behind the kick panel nothin, but i did find this
if this is the inertia switch i pressed the white button on top and it just went down no click and it doesnt start either so i have bigger problems i'm wondering if the injectin controlls on the fender can just die like that any more ideas.
I'm considering switching this over to carb instead of fiddling with this ancient FI
does any one know where i might find a parts list to convert to carb
It amazes me how much trouble is caused by previous owners. I have a term for them: Previous Owner Syndrome, or P.O.S!
My own current truck is a rolling encyclopedia on what not to do to a truck. Im using the Ford service manual for my '83. After doing LOTS of P.O.S. repairs, my truck has settled down and is being very dependable, which is the same thing that happened with my previous Ford F-150 after repairing lots of things that had been done before, BADLY!
