i put in my new slave cylinder and drove the truck about 1/2 of a mile and the slave and the metal clip fell of the tranny and busted. so that's 3 slave cylinders in 2 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry guys, i'm just venting.
clutch plate is good, heck i just put in a LUK single mass flywheel about 5,000 miles ago. oh and the slave that i'm buying comes with a new clip. i have to figure out why the clip fell off of the tranny before i put this new one in today. i heard it click when i put it in, but i don't guess it went in good enough. so 3 slaves in 2 months. we'll see if that number goes up anymore today i guess.
That sucks man. When I bought my truck it had a broken master pushrod so I had to replace the whole mess. Getting that system bled just about broke me until I figured out that screw on the slave isn't for bleeding it and pumping the slave by hand was the right way. Took me several days to wise up though. By far the most frustrating mechanical repair I've ever done in my life. I had that slave on and off a hundred times, I feel for you.
from what i'm seeing, there are quite a few people who's slave cylinders have a screw on the end. the ones that i keep getting don't have that. are the ones with the screw on the end better? where would i get that slave cylinder? b/c i have the feeling that i'm going to have to do this again in the next few months and all though these have a lifetime warranty on them, i'm tired of messing with something that breaks all the time.
I didn't shop around, I just went to the dealer. It was expensive, but I don't know if it was a mistake or not. Have to see how long it lasts. I read somewhere that the superduty hydraulic system comes prebled and ready to go for much less cash than ours, but I don't know if it's interchangeable.
