How can I tell if a Performance Chip has been installed in my truck? It seems the previous owner has done quite a few modifications - My wife bought it (its in her name ! ) off of a used car lot and no modifications etc. were listed/known...
if there is a chip in it then you will be able to see it if you remove the passenger side kick panel and the parking brake assembly. it will be plugged into the computer. if there was a programmer used then there is really no way to tell other than get the PCM reprogrammed and if you lose a bunch of power then there was a performance program installed. Other than those two ways not sure.
Check your downpipe to see if its round or flat after the turbo. This usually will be a good indication as to wether the truck has been modified or not. Good luck
Huh I said passenger side didn't. well to explain um um um I am a rural mail carrier and sit on the right side so the left side is the passenger side! yeah thats it. You know if you guy make fun of me I am going to pack up my toys and leave! LOL
Tim I am sorry. I was just playing. No real jabbing intended. You are a true asset to this site. Please don't take me the wrong way. My sincerest apologies. Action yes I knew what he meant. Just havin fun.
Back on topic. I had a chip in mine years and years ago. But it had to go in from the engine side by removing the computer. Now that it is gone along time ago and the contacts are still cleaned I assume I can put the new one in thru the drivers side?
BTW if you leave tim I will commit i-net suicide!!
I know you guys were jabbing me! Thus my lame excuse! i have one of the thickest skins you will ever find. I haven't been as regular lately but I don't see me leaving ever!
