I have been reading through this tread and many others for some time. I am glad to see that someone else has had the same problems as me on the cutout issue. I was driving tonight in the rain and the truck did fine until the first time I turned the windshield wipers on. Then it cutout. I am hoping that someone will find the cure for this so I can drive my truck in the rain and not worry about it cutting out.
I have a new cps (ford gray one) in it. 2000 F250 161,000 miles.
I posted this problem months ago, and am glad to hear that there are others that have the same issue (totally selfish I know - sorry). Knowing this forum, someone will come up with a resolution eventually but as of now it remains a mystery.
Picked up my new gray "B" CPS today from the dealer today. Since I replaced the original black/gold version a long time ago and no longer have it, I had to buy the new one ($33 and change). As for moister problems or interference caused by wipers, no one was willing to say. I'm going to install the new CPS using a bit of dialectic grease on the connection.

, We lucked out of that ice storm down in Dallas, got a little rain but that's it. I still haven't made it back home to check anything out, but hopefully it won't be more than a few more days before I can!
One thing I'm thinking of trying is rain x, that way I can just drive the back roads for a test when it's raining without the wipers, I guess that's another way to check on top of the other things I'm going to try.

Not to say that your problem does not have a different root cause to mine, but I tried the opposite test i.e. running the wipers when it was dry and I still got the same intermittent stall/cutout. This leads me to believe that moisture is not at the heart of this problem and that it's some wierd electrical thing and that bugs me because I have a real hard time with electrical stuff.

Just a thought from another thread I have, are you still running your original CPS and if not, where did you get the one you have? Same question to the others here that are having the same problems.
I'm running the second BWD CPS (black with gold bracket). I now have the gray one from the dealer. We'll see if the problem goes away.
According to Borg Warner (part CSS1603) it is the same as the "B" version. My guess it is not! I only replaced the cps with another BWD because the last was lasted about 5k miles, then went south on me during our recent ice storm and week + long power outage here in OK. This last one lasted ummmm about a day. But at least when this one went out, it didn't feel like the tranny fell out and I ran over it at 70mph!
I'm installing the dealer bought gray one tomorrow using dialectic grease for good measure. I'll keep you posted.
damn guy's ...did you not see the cps recall thread going around??? IMO any time you unplug an electrical connection..always put a dab of electrical grease in the plug and make sure the rubber ring is on the plug before you plug it into the sensor..
this time of year moisture sets in and it will raise hell with things..
Ron, I wonder why the aftermarket ones seem to be more prone to wet weather failure than the OEMs. Do you think the fit/seal is not as good, or could it be what I said and a weaker CPS signal that the wiper may interfer with?
ford came out with a new one for a reason..I don't think the after market did..maybe its weather related.. most of these guy's haveing trouble are on there second sensor....but once you break the rubber seal..you need to make it re seal..grease will do this.. the rubber ring is on the harness end of the plug..you need to get them separate I think..even with a new seal..you should still add grease..
like I said..this time of year you get moisture very easily
