Yeah, dunno why i prefer XM maybe because i have only had XM although they merged so sometime soon we should be able to get the channels from both, and they are coming out with a new billing system to allow you to only pay for the channels you want, so in other words i dont have to pay for the channels i dont listen to which is sweet!

I have had both. I got a XM subscription for free and pay for Sirius. Gave the XM to my girlfriend and kept the Sirius. Sirius has better programming (Stern, Margaritaville, SEC football, etc.) and no commercials.

I had XM for a couple years and found myself constantly switching stations looking for the right mix. I gave up and bought a Sirius unit for my AVIC-N1. In my opinion, much better programming, not to mention I get to hear Stern uncensored...

i have Sirius, cause the kids gave it to me for Christmas. as far as listening to the rectal orifices like stern, there is only one station programed into the receiver, and that is the country station.

Sirius, I've had it since it came out. Can you say NASCAR?

I Prefer XM.

Part of the reason why I went to satellite radio was that I got tired of listening to DJ's who thought they were funny. Sirius still has 'em, in spades. XM has them, but to much less degree. I don't listen to the commercials on XM anyway, and commercials have about a 200% better chance of being funny than a DJ...

XM also has a larger database of music. When listening to Sirius, their playlists repeated after about 8 hours. XM's playlists take 24-36 hours to repeat. This is a factor when one listens to satellite radio for 12-18 hours at a time (as I do).

I don't know if it's the hardware or the signal, but my Sirius Streamer sounded like an AM radio station, even when hard-wired to the head unit. My XM Roady-XT actually sounds like a CD. I keep hearing nuances in music on XM that I never even knew were there on Sirius.

I don't give a rip about Stern, O&A, NASCAR, NBA, MLB, NFL, or any of that other crap. I got into it because I could listen to music from one end of I-40 to the other w/o having to channel hop across 12 different markets. My main draw to Sirius at first was that they had NPR... but when I found out that they don't, won't, and refuse to negotiate over carrying All Things Considered and Morning Edition, their value to me dropped substantially.

Now that a merger seems imminent (and there's been little to indicate the merger will be blocked), it's been looking like a lot of XM's programming is starting to mimic Sirius's. Which I'm NOT pleased at.... At least there's still the sound quality...

I personally could care less about Stern, sports or that other stuff. I want as much music as possible and a minimum of DJs flapping their lips.
Right now Ive got XM through my DirecTV and I listen to it often (Im listening to 20 on 20 right now actually) and I like it.
I work part time stocking shelves at a grocery store and they have Sirius and it seems like Sirius has more time between songs where the DJs talk and I swear they have Sirius commercials on all the time. Its like, if you already paid for Sirius, why are they bragging it up like its the best thing ever? They already have your money.
Im leaning towards XM at this point in time, but Im curious as to what other people think. It seems like the people who prefer Sirius like it for Howard Stern and NASCAR.

When I had my XM in my truck for about 3 days I could have sworn I heard commercials, I was on a country station. Maybe that is how they are different, Sirius has the DJ's talking a bit more whereas XM has the commercials. Also, Sirius broadcasts from 3 satellites and XM only uses 2. Not sure if that really makes a difference in anything though.

I used to sell this stuff a few years ago and people would always ask which is better. I would tell them that its personal preference. It comes down to what you like and will listen too.

I listen to XM in my Mom's car, and Sirius on my TV, and personally I like Sirius much better. XM just has too much music I haven't heard of, and they get really repetive.
