Over the past couple of weeks my miniture wiener dog has developed a wart like sore on his left hip. I tried seeing if there was pus or any fluid in it and there seems not to be any. It has slowly grown to the size of a nickel. He doesn't seemed bothered by it. To me it looks like a wart. Can a dog get warts? Could it be a reaction from a bug bite? He gets himself into small places due to his size. He loves exploring holes and other tight places.
I am no dog expert. Just wondering, how many squirrels do you have around. Squirrels have wolves in the hot part of the year. Although wolves are most common in squirrels other animals can get them too.
70Blue, no squirrles in the area that I've seen. All the things I found on the internet about dog sores or dog warts say that he should be bothered by it. He seems like he doesnt care about it. It doesnt hurt him and he doesnt lick it either. I'm thinking about going to buy some human wart remover and freeze it off tonight.

That won't work. If it's the size of a nickel, it's not a wart.
How old is the dog? If it has grown a nickel in a few weeks it's probably significant.

I am a veterinarian.
Yeah, one of our cats had a similar bump on the top of her head, and after a month or two, it got bigger, when we took her to the vet's, they told us it was a tumor, thankfully they removed it, and its been several years and it has not grown back
But, we have a 17yo weiner dog and he has these things that look like big zits or weepy warts on him, mostly hind quarters. He even has a lumpy thing on his throat, bout the size of a grape. We took him to the vet a couple years ago and he said "he's just an old dog and weiners are prone to these" We were told to keep them clean and maybe squeeze them out if they get bad. We even popped one or two big baggy grape size things that grew on his rear "knees", full of blood and puss never had them again.
Only problem we had was he did get some sort of blistering type wound bout the size of a quarter on his back in a couple spots and the hair fell off and he was weepy for a few weeks. But the vet just gave us some ointment and said keep it clean.
Maybe NOT what your dog has but from what we have heard and read, the weiners can be prone to all sorts of skin problems. The big zits are in the past 4 or 5 years.
We joke that when he dies we will make driving gloves out of his hide since it is well ventillated.

Thats about where it is at. He is 3 years old if that helps. The vet may have to wait a week or two due to lack of funds with the kids going back to school and all. It doesn't bother him at all. It sort of looks like a blood blister to me. I've been keeping antibiotic cream on it.

I don't suppose black drawing salve would hurt anything. In fact if their is any infection or a foreign object in there it will draw it out. Drawing salve is hard to find. You mostly only find it at hometown drug stores. The chains will look at you like you have a third eye when asking for it. Most of it will be labeled Ichthammol Ointment 20% that is the good stuff. I would get the dog to a vet soon as I could though.
