hi there i have a 1969 ford f-100 300 6. I have just recently taken apart the whole front section of my truck sanded primed and my now putting it all back together. On the front radiator support piece, You have your horn and below that i believe the voltage regulator and the is a almost batter shaped piece below that. Well there is only one wiring running to it and its from the voltage reg. But the wire snaps apart and now i am having the problem of getting it back together snug. I was just wondering what that piece does if i cant figure out a way to get it back together correctly im thinking about splicing it but i was just curious as to what it is and does. Thanks all the help is appericiated heading out camping today and i want to take my truck! Ill post some pictures of my progress as soon as i get back thanks for all the help people!

On my 68 there is a single wire from the voltage regulator to ground, if thats what your talking about. 4 wires to reg, 1 to horn. I do not have any wiring in my truck right now. Every thing is stripped out for paint, inside and out. The white wire from the regulator "T" temninal goes to engine, switched. Not sure where it switched at, mat terminate on soleniod.
I thing that is some kind of condensor, like you find in your points distributor. Can't really say what it does for sure, and where to get one? I think if you switch over to a new "electronic" regulator it wouldn't be required. Can't say for sure.
If it a condensor it's to filter radio noise. There should be a number on it in mf. If the connector is loose use a pair of pliers and tighten it up. Some condensors had pigtails on them, if it came apart their, just remove and throw it way. Parts houses use to carry them. Would not hurt to check.
Mine originally did not have a radio, so it was not equipped. I do not have any radio noise with out it.
